What is Valentine’s Day? Why People celebrate this Day?

Valentine’s Day is a well-known day in all the parts of the world. Love is the more are and passionate feelings in the world. Human being is bound to the bond of love with each other. There is not any specific day need for showing or celebrate love to your beloved one. Worldwide people celebrate Valentine’s Day to show his/her partner love. But this day is not only showing love to your partner but also remembered and cherished of St. Valentine’s sacrifices.

What is the story of the Valentine’s Day?

Though it’s all about love and staying close to each other, the valentine day has also dark story. In the 3rd century, there had a ruler of Europe named Claudius II Gothicus. He was known as Claudius the cruel because of his rough and harsh leadership. He was a tendency of getting into wars. For this reason they need more soldiers. But the Romans were not interested to join the army because they don’t want to leave their families & beloved partners. They want to settle themselves with their family. To make join in the army the king announced that no men will get married and cannot make a family. The people who want to lead the normal life had not enough dared to stand up against the merciless & dictator king.

Despite king’s orders of not to marriage, a soldier got married before they left for war. The king found out the rebel and threw him in jail and ordered him to hang for not obeying the rules. At the time of jail Valentine fall in love with jailer’s daughter. He wrote a sonnet for the girl in a letter. He had not the instrument of writing letter so he used squeezed ink from violet flowers. In the very next day, he was executed by the Roman executioner. But people said that the words of his letter were so powerful that blind woman got her light & eyesight back. The woman was able to see the world but they did not let her see her lover.
