Pohela Falgun 2020! Before Bangla New Year Pohela Boishakh the Bengalis celebrate another day known as Pohela Falgun. Falgun is the 11th month of Bengali Calendar. The first day of this falgun month is known as Pohela Falgun. The word “Pohela (in Bangla)” means first day in English. So, the Pohela Falgun means the first day of Falgun (পহেলা ফাল্গুন 2020).
At the first day of Pahela Falgun is also of first day of spring season. Through this falgun celebration people actually celebrate spring season.
History of Pahela Falgun
There is no specific history behind celebrating this day. But some students of Dhaka university of Fine Arts celebrate this day. After that day, every year the day has celebrated by the young age people specially.
At the very first time some girls of Dhaka University wore print block & saree at the university hall. Wearing Saree they also visited Ekhushey Boi Mela.
At the day of first Falgun the boys and girls of 89 batch of DU started a rally in DU campus. That time it came to eye of media & general people. After that day, people also start celebrate Pohela Falgun to welcome spring season.

Boys wear colourful Punjabi and girls wear Saree on this day. The Saree is combined with Yellow, Red & White colour and the name of this Saree is usually called Bashanti Saree.
When is Pohela Falgun 2020 Date?
First day of spring is the Pohela Falgun day. According Gregorian calendar, 13th February is usually falls it. Almost every year the date is remain same. So we can call 13th February indirectly Pohela Falgun. But Pohela Falgun 2020 date is the 14th of February (14/2/2020) which is February.
Pohela Falgun 2020 is 14th February 2020 which is also Valentine Day.
How Pohela Falgun is celebrated?
Springs comes after the winter season. People celebrate this day to welcome the king season of all seasons, spring. Nature also adored herself with new flowers & leafs. Shimul, Gold meri, Palash and also many flowers are bloom to welcome spring.
The night before the First Falgun, people of Bangladesh are busy to decorate their stage for the next day cultural organization. They welcome the first day of Falgun as well as spring by paintings, poems, dancing & songs.
Boys wear traditional colorful Punjabi and girls wear traditional Basanti colour Saree on this day. On this day, many of festivals are going on. Friends group goes out for celebration, couples are comes also to celebrate the festival also. The people call it Boshonto Utsav.
