Short History of 26 March Independence Day of Bangladesh
Under the leadership of Bangabandhu, Awami League won majority in the general election of 1970. But the Pakistani rulers did delay to free the transfer power and playing different games. On 25th March midnight, they had tortured the general people of Bangladesh. They killed that night many important persons, teachers and leaders. At the same night they arrested Bangabandhu . So, 25th March is called also Operation Searchlight. On the 26th Bangabandhu called for independence. After getting the announcement our freedom fighters started figtting. After about nine month of war Bangladesh got victory on 16th December 1971. So, 16th December is called Victory day of Bangladesh.
